Cube Dress

This post is in celebration of my blog’s second birthday! I have put a lot of emotional and creative work into the blog, and the satisfaction is great. It all started from designing items and wishing to present them to the broad public in a refreshing way using an online platform. A photographic production of seasonal collections with a model does not fit my work style. The blog is a wonderful form of expression for me and a convenient way for you to get to know my style and its background. In the past six months, since I opened my boutique shop, I feel I’ve gotten to know you all better. You’ve surprised me with excellent combinations of items and a mature sense of style.

In this post I present the ‘Cube’ dress. The design is identical to the ‘Leaves’ dress model I presented in the previous post. The dress is made of printed Crepe satin, and has a black satin fabric V-neck. The dress can be worn loose or with a thin leather tie-on belt I designed with Maya Shalev.

Leaves Dress

It’s great to pass these hot summer days with comfort and elegance. When I think of comfort, there are a number of parameters I find important. Not too revealing, not too tight, not too short. When an outfit has all these features, I enjoy it and wear it for a very long time.

I designed a light comfortable dress made of thin smooth Crepe fabric with white leaves printed on a brown background. The knee-high dress doesn’t cling to the body; it has a delicate bat sleeve and a V-shaped neckline made of a mixed brown fabric. Together with Maya Shalev, I designed a leather belt without a buckle, designed to be freely tied around the waist. The belt gives the total look its chic.

Dark Maxi Skirt & Hearts Blouse

Lately I have been wearing mostly Maxi skirts. I realized they are comfortable, liberating and create a rich feminine look. In previous posts I presented the Maxi skirt in polka-dotted everyday fabrics. This time I present the Maxi skirt made of a rich dark brown silk fabric. The length of the skirt, its front fold and the fabulous fabric give the Maxi skirt a presence suitable for the evening hours.

To match this skirt I designed a sleeveless silk blouse, with a round neckline, and six evenly-spread folds under the neckline. The fabric has a creamy tone with delicate heart illustrations, and the blouse ends with a diagonal golden-olive strip. The fabric is see-through so I designed this blouse with a slightly creamy-toned lining.

Brown Tiltan Blouse & Coffee Geometric Skirt

Summer is here, and with it come the heavy humidity and heat. Even in days like this I recommend dressing for work or for a night out in a tailored, comfortable and chic look. The secret is in the fabric and the shape. You can choose pants or a skirt made of a thin breathing fabric, and blouses should preferably be made of cotton, chiffon or silk. The shapes should be flattering but not too tight, shapes that allow the body some air. The style of clothes I design, Smart Casual, suits anyone that wants to look great at the workplace and in dates, and survive the hot summer days without compromise.

In this post I present a straight skirt, curving but not tight. This ‘Geometric’ skirt in a light coffee tone, has lengthwise and crosswise cuts and diagonally cut pockets, and is made of cotton fabric with diagonal stripes creating a light and interesting texture. The brown ‘Tiltan’ blouse is made of an airy cotton fabric with a small flower print on a chocolate-brown background. The blouse has a V-neck and a flat collar, partial buttoning with three buttons and short sleeves. The clothes touch the body but don’t cling to it, and they are made of breathing fabrics suitable for hot days. That’s how I dress to have fun. I add a large comfortable bag, a pair of sandals and delicate jewelry and go out to work.

Kangaroo Blouse & Geometric Skirt

In this post I present a casual, easygoing, pragmatic look, suitable for summer days. The ‘Kangaroo’ blouse is made of a mustard-shaded silk fabric with cream polka dots. The blouse has a liquid look and it gently falls over the shoulder; it has a V-shaped collar that becomes round around the neck and a small pocket.

The ‘Geometric’ skirt is made of deep blue cotton fabric with a gentle weaving texture. The skirt has a straight shape with crossing cuts and two diagonally cut front pockets.

Tiltan Blouse & Choco Vanilla Maxi Skirt

For me, the fabric makes all the difference. The various colors, textures, prints and feel are extremely important to me. Sometimes everything starts with choosing a fabric; I can feel a fabric and instantly know what I’m going to make of it and how it will look. Other times it takes a lot of time and effort to find the perfect fabric for one of my designs. I long for the day when I will be able to design and manufacture my own fabrics, and then only the sky is the limit.

When I saw the chiffon fabric of the skirt presented in this post, I knew right away it will beautifully match the maxi skirt I designed. The fabric has a crepe texture and a wonderful fall and flow to it, which is very important in a long skirt.

The ‘Tiltan’ blouse also started from choosing the fabric. I was looking for thin and smooth cotton fabrics with gentle graphic prints. I designed a short sleeve blouse, with a V-neck and a partial buttoning with three buttons.

The combination between a long flowing skirt and a graphic tailored blouse continues the contrastive concept with which I started designing my summer collection. I created a look that can be enjoyed throughout the day. The right accessory can transform a casual look to a richer evening look.

Mustard Maxi Skirt & Brown Papillon Blouse

When I started designing new summer items I wanted to create a long feminine contrastive look; on the one hand - neat and graphic, and on the other - flexible and flowing. As always, I started with basic form and color sketches, like the good-old graphic designer I once was. I started with designing the skirt and drew sketches of various shapes – a very wide cloche, a tight one that touches the body, and different folds and cuts. I wanted the skirt to be morphologically minimal. I chose a certain width and created a central fold that gives flow and richness to the skirt’s front. After choosing the shape I started looking for the right fabric. I was looking for a silk fabric in a mustard shade that I loved, and when I found the exact tone with evenly-spread cream-colored dots I was very pleased.

Faithful to my initial idea of bringing contrasts together, I designed a blouse made of soft and flowing chiffon fabric in a buttoned tailored shape. I created a graphic papillon shape in the collar using a different fabric, and with that same fabric I created the diagonal strips defining the sleeves. The brown chiffon fabric with cream-colored dots scattered unevenly wonderfully matched the look I wanted to achieve.

My New Shop

I’m thrilled to tell you all that I have opened my first shop on Tshernikhovski St. in Tel Aviv.

For a long time now I have been walking around with a feeling that my clothes need a proper and permanent place. I started with selling from home, and progressed to selling in the designers’ boutique in Dizengoff Center. During this period I learned who my clients were; I examined how the clothes fitted on various body sizes; and met a wide and fascinating audience. In addition, I sold items online in Israel and worldwide, and increased the manufacturing. My blog was my way of keeping in touch, and now we can calmly meet at the shop for fittings and advice.

The shop is cozy and intimate, and located in the lovely boutique street in central Tel Aviv; I couldn’t wish for anything more. In the boutique you can find the clothes I design, and the wonderful shoes Inbar Yosifon designs under the brand name Shoemaker, as well as handmade bags which the most talented designer Maya Shalev makes – all made in Israel.

For this festive post, I was photographed inside the shop wearing an eggplant shaded baby corduroy Shape skirt. The buttoned blouse is made of apple green cotton fabric with a Chinese collar, and the blazer-style jacket is made of mixed silk and wool.

Currently, I am offering the winter collection at end of season prices, and in my next post I will present new items for the upcoming spring.
